Through our brand identity, Bonata also becomes depicted in a 'Bonita' female persona, inspired by the Greek Goddess Demeter, who is the Goddess of harvest, agriculture, food & prosperity. In our design the female is holding a basket of freshly-picked lemons in one arm as she harvests the lemons.
The significance of using the lemon as a prominent part of our identity is because lemons were actually first brought to the European Mediterranean region by Arab traders in 10th century AD. They were the clear status symbols of nobility in the ancient Mediterranean, as it appears that the citron was considered a valuable commodity due to its healing qualities, symbolic use, pleasant odour and rarity. It is also a symbol of freshness, the sun, summer and is vastly used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
